romanticizing autumn

⊱ㅤㅤ。⠀⠀ ࣪⠀⠀ ა ׅ⠀ ࿐ྂ⠀⠀ ⠀ ̫ ⠀⠀⠀. ⠀ℒ 𓈒

hi angels🪽 soo.. this is my first actual post! i'm just gonna make this about autumn and how i'm (and maybe you too!) going to romanticize it. of course, that means warm colors, pumpkin spice, chai, cinnamon, brown knit sweaters, and tights. studying at cafes with your friends, waking up early for school, seeing the orange and brown leaves fall from the trees. fall is just magical. there's that crisp, gloomy sky looking out at you when you wake up. it's the wonderfulness of  binge-watching your favorite autumn shows, like Gilmore Girls and Pretty Little Liars. (which i'm watching now while making this :P) the tender feeling when you see your friends for the first time in months at school. cozying up in your bed at night, drinking hot chocolate. listening to autumn music in your earphones while getting ready. all of it. buckle up, cause this is going to be a long drive. ヾ(≧▽≦*)o

    ༄˖°.🍂.ೃ࿔*
    how to romanticize your autumn:

♡ step one - mornings (scroll down for a summary) :

let's start from the top, mornings. now that school has started (for most of you), mornings might feel forced, rushed, and they may stress you out. waking up and immediately deciding that the day sucks because of school is not the way to start the day! set your alarm to around 5:00-7:00 am, or an hour or two before you have to leave for school. i leave at 7:30, so my alarm is set for 6:00. when you wake up, stay in bed for five-ish minutes to clear your head. then, open up the blinds or tie back your curtains and greet that crisp morning air. if it's dark outside, turn on warm lights or light up a candle or two. take a feel minute to journal or read, it keeps you productive.

next, make your bed. i know, you probably think it's a waste of time and is going to take ten years to make your bed. but i promise you, it isn't and does not take that long. it gets you ready for the day, and you'll come home to a nice room. if you want, you can always play some autumn music (or any other music you enjoy!) to romanticize your morning. you could also stretch for five minutes to wake yourself up. brush your teeth (or after breakfast), wash your face, etc. if you want to, take a shower. use autumn scented products like vanilla, pumpkin, cinnamon, etc, if you desire. in my opinion---and i promise i dont stink---showering is optional in the morning IF you shower at night. it is, however, good for waking yourself up.

go downstairs, and make yourself a drink. tea, coffee, matcha, whatever. whip something up that will make you happy before you get ready for the day. you can even make different flavors! for example, a pumpkin spice latte, cinnamon flavored drinks, cold-foam matcha, etc! get creative with it ! (❁´◡`❁)

now, go back to your room. put on the cute outfit you picked out the day before. (trust me, setting out your clothes the day before or even planning your outfits of the week on sunday helps a LOT ! coming from someone who used to spend twenty minutes trying to find an outfit... TT) if you want ideas for autumn clothes, think knitted sweaters, jeans, cardigans, brown and other neutral colors, layers, and etc. do your skincare while watching an autumn show, youtube video, or just listening to music. if you desire, watch an autumn makeup tutorial, which basically is just warm, brown shades, or recreate a look. style your hair by putting it into a braid, doing a low ponytail, messy bun, etc. do what makes YOU feel cute!

if you eat breakfast, make a yummy and nutritious meal! some autumn inspired breakfasts i've made are cinnamon roll-inspired oatmeal, cinnamon french toast, cinnamon roll pancakes, apple spice oatmeal, etc. a delicious breakfast, for me at least, sets a mood for my day. (and i'll be honest, it's mainly because if i don't eat breakfast, i usually get pretty cranky and sick.)

before you leave for school, make sure you have everything you need in your backpack. whether it be books, electronics, or feminine products, if you haven't made sure of that the night before, definitely do it now before it's too late! ( ̄▽ ̄)"

finally, leave for school! quick, open up a pocket mirror to fix any flaws you might not want people seeing. put in your wired headphones and play music for the drive or walk to school. grab your drink, put on your shoes, and head out the door! (✿◡‿◡)

in summary:

♡ wake up, open blinds, and turn on music

♡ make your bed

♡ stretch for five minutes

♡ shower and/or brush your teeth (if you don't do it after breakfast)

♡ make a drink (ex. tea, coffee, matcha)

♡ put on cozy clothes (think knitted sweaters, cardigans, layers)

♡ get ready, do skincare, makeup, hair, etc

♡ eat a nutritious breakfast

♡ pack your bag for school

♡ leave for school

♡ step two - academics (scroll down for a summary) :

school has started, and i'll bet you have that excited but depressed feeling about it. yes, seeing your friends is fun. but school? definitely not. an entire mountain of homework on your back once again? no thank you. i can relate, but to romanticize autumn, you will also need to include school. this step will include studying, socializing (terrible, i know), and organizing! ( •̀ ω •́ )✧

organize your materials. how many times will people have to say it till it gets to you? of
course, you may be someone who's bag and materials are already organized... but i'm talking to the ones in the back who have papers, old books, and other random stuff in their bag, doomed to live in there forever. dump everything out, find what you need, put new stuff in your bag, and organize it. throw away old papers, take out that hidden piece of gum in the bottom of your bag, and empty your bag's pockets. me personally, i like to have all my things in order by size. so, i'll have the largest things first, and the smallest things last,
if that makes any sense... me personally, i can not go a day without a book on me. bring a book, journal, whatever! anything to keep you busy when there's nothing to do in class or lunch.

i would also create a time table or keep an agenda/planner to note activities, classes, study groups, club meetings, etc. you never know when it may come in handy!

most importantly, is to be disciplined and motivated to do well in school. go on pinterest and create a board of what you want your school year to look like. take inspiration from your favorite educated tv characters, like rory, spencer, alex, hermione, etc. steal their study habits if it works for you. watching hard-working characters can be surprisingly motivating. find an account online who posts study tips for you. study your notes and materials when you dont understand them, do cornell notes, find study habits and routines that work for you, and ultimately try your best! don't compare yourself to others who learn differently than you do, because all it does is bring you down.

don't turn your study time into a chore of dread. like i said, romanticize your academics!
study at a quiet library, a cozy cafe that gives autumn vibes, or just study in your room! different environments improve your focus and prepare you for different social settings. get a nice warm drink, like hot chocolate, coffee, tea, etc. play music in your headphones that will help you focus, make sure your area is clean to improve focus, and set aside thirty minutes to an hour for your studying time. you can always phone or meet up with friends to study with them! practice memorization together, review material, and help each other on difficult tasks. my favorite motivation method is pretending i'm a movie character. recording yourself could also be a good motivator for studying. again, don't make studying a chore; make it a calm and cozy time in your day.

making new friends. it's a nightmare, i know. as someone who still hasn't sparked up a conversation first this year, i get it. i'm trying to get the courage to speak up, but it is a little challenging. start small, find something in common with the person sitting next to you. it could be a band/artist, hobby, game, show, and more! similarities bring people together. if you have group projects, try to engage more in conversations. people will know you better, and you could make a new friend. (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)

in summary:

♡ organize materials/bag

♡ use a planner/agenda to note things down

♡ create pinterest boards inspired by other characters of how you want your school year to look

♡ study notes and materials after class/when something is confusing

♡ don't compare yourself to others

♡ study at cafes, libraries, in your room, etc to provide your brain w/ a new environment

♡ make your study space cozy, bring a drink, play music

♡ try to talk to new people + engage in group conversations

♡ step three - creating a playlist :

create a playlist that reminds you of autumn. think brown and orange leaves falling from trees as you walk, studying at cafes, cinnamon and pumpkin, and seeing that gloomy sky when you wake up. you can make different playlists for different times and activities; such as getting ready, studying, walks, and more!

- some artists and bands that i recommend for your playlist are:

♡ norah jones

♡ the cranberries

♡ lana del rey

♡  tv girl

♡ beabadoobee

♡ cigarettes after sex

♡ the smiths

- songs that you should totally include are:

♡ insomniac - memo boy

♡ duvet - boa

♡ we fell in love in october - girl in red

♡ lover, you should've come over - jeff buckley

♡ sweater weather - the neighborhood

♡ step four - starting a new book and/or show:

autumn is the season with the best shows. don't try to argue, because it is true. there are many different shows or movies to watch in the fall. here is my list of the best ones to watch:

♡ pretty little liars

♡ gilmore girls

♡ twilight

♡ coraline

♡ the vampire diaries

♡ when harry met sally

♡ jennifer's body

♡ harry potter

♡ gossip girl

♡ spirited away

♡ corpse bride

♡ howl's moving castle

of course, this will include books as well. when i think of books for autumn, i think mystery and fantasy. the best books to read this autumn are:

♡ frankenstein - mary shelly

♡ harry potter - jk rowling

♡ hamlet - william shakespeare

♡ the hunger games - suzanne collins

♡ wuthering heights - emily bronte

♡ little women - lousia may alcott

♡ the haunting of hill house - shirley jackson

♡ the secret history - donna tartt

♡ dracula - bram stoker

♡ the pumpkin spice cafe - laurie gilmore

♡ step five - starting an autumn journal:

autumn means a fresh start. becoming the new you for the new school year. if you don't already have one, i would buy a journal. you can always use the notes app, start a blog, or notion to use a journal, but there's a magical feeling when you write in a physical journal. a few years from now, you'll look back at these memories either laughing your head off, or smiling with nostalgia. write what you're grateful for, the things you want to do this autumn/year, list of books to read/you've read, diary entries of what happened that day, and
more!

- some ideas for an autumn bucket list are:

♡ bake cinnamon rolls

♡ watch/finish a fall movie

♡ go on a walk in the crisp, cool breeze

♡ bake an apple pie

♡ visit a new, autumn cafe

♡ make a pumpkin spice inspired drink

♡ carve a pumpkin

♡ read an autumn book

♡ go trick or treating

♡ have an autumn photoshoot

♡ hot chocolate in pajamas w/ a movie

♡ visit a pumpkin patch
